Get Out Of The Box Geometric Furniture For The Home

Brooks Atwood, the quirky designer behind POD Design based in Brooklyn, NY and runner-up of last season’s HGTV Design Star, has turned heads not only with his eccentric personality, but with his imaginative innovations. Established in 2003, POD Design defies traditional methods and takes a geometrical and modern approach to its designs.

A recent industrial design called Sylki follows the theme of POD Design creations with its contemporary and geometrical shape. Made from a single sheet of recycled metal, the Sylki chair isn’t just for looks. The indentations and folds are strategically designed to distribute pressure on joints. The chair is also lightweight, weighing in at just 4 pounds. It's available in matte black, white and gold and 20 percent of all sales go to Hurricane Sandy relief.

If you like the geometric look, but aren’t too keen on solid metal for seating, the McQueen I is just as angular plus plush. This product is significantly smaller than the Sylki, so it will fit well in small spaces. Use it as a foot rest, stool or just as a fun feature in your room. Also, because of its angles, you can flip it around and use it in a variety of orientations. The McQueen I is available in an assortment of colors.

Another stellar industrial design by POD Design is the Tetra desk lamp, inspired by the

retro-futurism of the sci-fi classic Bladerunner. Geometric in nature and unique in its display, the Tetra desk lamp gives off a bright daylight-inspired glow and features a dimmer function.
