Accentuate Your Home Decor With An Accent Wall

Accentuate Your Home Decor With An Accent Wall

The accent wall is the opposite of playing it safe, but it can truly turn into a beautiful work of art when all is said and done. From whimsical wall coverings to dramatic stone the accent wall can certainly add eye candy and extra drama to your home. Here are some of our favorite ways to create an accent wall.

1.Reclaimed Wood. Reclaimed wood is a huge design trend right now. Not only can it give a room rustic charm, but it’s also ecofriendly. These two accent walls, completed by Barnwood Naturals, show that reclaimed wood is quite versatile. The nursery, pictured left, belongs to the son of celebrity singer Jewel. This design showcases a more eclectic mix of wood while the wall pictured on the right is a more subtle and natural design.

2.Paint. This is the easiest way to create an accent wall at home. Use a soft color or make a bold statement. Either way, make sure to use colors that compliment each other. This example from Benjamin Moore shows how you can use edgy colors without going overboard.

3. Stone. This is an emerging trend in home décor. Stone is a popular choice for accent walls in kitchens, dining rooms and bathrooms, but why not add it in other unique places like the bedroom? See more installations like these from Eldorado Stone.

4.Wallpaper. Wall coverings add a unique texture that paint cannot. However if you’re not ready to commit to a full room of wallpaper, but still love the material, start with an accent wall. Walnut Wallpaper has great designs to get inspired by like this one pictured below.

5.Tile. Artistic Tile offers beautiful custom tile designs and installations. The room pictured below on the left showcases a tiled accent wall, which features a small fireplace. If you’re not keen on tiling an entire wall in your home, use it to accentuate your fireplace surround like the picture displayed on the right.

6.Gems. This Topaz Gem accent is definitely a more dramatic option, but we love what Crystaline Stone has done with this bedroom.
