Home Security Goes High Tech

Home Security Goes High Tech

Home security is a hot topic, as more and more companies are sensing the need for advancements in securing homes and making homeowners feel safer. Home alarms, wireless systems and technological advances are vastly expanding the home security market. These new and popular offerings take home security a quantum leap further and make excellent and practical use of the new forms of technology available to us.

Wireless Home Security Systems. Unlike in the past when installing a security system was complicated and expensive, alarm systems are now much cheaper and easier to implement. The need for wires running through your house or condo is now unnecessary, as sensors communicate with the system wirelessly. This way, you can strategically place sensors in more convenient locations, and change them around without any rewiring if needed in the future. A very popular option, wireless security systems offer safety without the hassle of a complicated installation or high cost.

Smart Homes and Smart Phones. A rising trend is the option of monitoring your home from a remote location. It is now possible to lock your doors, turn off your lights and check your house from your cell phone. All of the functions of a home security system can now be updated and controlled from the palm of your hand, making monitoring much more efficient. Alarm.com has an iPhone app that allows you to arm and disarm their security systems and watch live or prerecorded footage all from their phones. Companies like ADT and Vivint are making it possible to regulate your home thermostat this way, too. The new technology that allows all of these systems to be controlled from a completely remote location allows homeowners to more efficiently manage your home and put more control in your hands.

Video Monitoring. Home surveillance cameras are not an entirely new idea, but companies are making big changes to the way these cameras can protect your home. Now, video cameras can easily be installed both inside and outside of the house and be barely noticeable. These monitoring systems allow you to feel much safer as they can be motion-activated and capture clear images.
