Recycled Building Materials Give Way To Affordable Home Improvement

The demand for eco friendly building materials is strong as new sustainable construction innovations take the place of harmful home building materials. Contributing to the sustainable building market is EcoBuilding Bargains, New England’s largest used building materials store. With three centers based in Massachusetts, EcoBuilding Bargains receive materials donated by suppliers, contractors and homeowners and then sells them to the public—recycling materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill.

The company accepts a wide range of materials from plumbing and lighting fixtures to cabinets, windows, vanities and appliances. Donating unused and leftover materials helps others complete affordable home improvement while also saving on disposal costs. Even better, these donations may even be tax deductible for the donor.

EcoBuilding Bargains does require that the materials be in good shape however. They will not accept any materials that are broken, bent, dented, rusted or have chipped paint. If you have a big item or number of items that you’d like to donate, the company offers a hauling service that will pick up the large volume of materials from you home, business or workplace.

The company also stresses the difference between demolition and deconstruction. Deconstruction is “green demolition”, saving materials from ending up in a landfill. EcoBuilding Bargains works with a number of contractors around the Northeast that specialize in green demolition and will carefully deconstruct your home being sure to save all recyclable materials that could go to a good home.

Not all of the materials sold by EcoBuilding Bargains are used. Some materials are brand new and donated by wholesale or retail outlets, craftsmen who make custom home furnishings and homeowners. The company also sells energy efficient lighting supplies, new paint made from recycled paint and other green products.
